McCain's VP Pick?

MSM on CNBC is reporting that the pick is Gov. Palin of Alaska. If this is true it is great move. Not only having a woman on the ticket but the Alaska angle is great also. She above all others can hammer the point of drilling in Alaska. Do it now. Then have the enviro left agrue with her. Whoa! I sure hope this is true.

Who? I had to google her vitae up. So the GOP now has a 72 year old crippled cancer survivor running for President with a 44 y.o. VP pick - the mayor of some village in Alaska, still picking out the drapes for her governorship...there goes the "experience" meme. Not to mention the "national security" theme.

And she has a new born child with special needs. How does THAT play to the 'family values' folks? She's about to be gone 24/7 for the next 66 days.

This thing is hard to fathom, it really looks like some kind of pitch to the Hillary voters...but he's a day late - Obama took them off the table about 12 hours ago. I'm calling it desperate.

The McCain ticket is DOA.

As soon as the Press discovers how Palin abused her power as Governor to try to destroy her State-Trooper ex-brother-in-law, McCain can kiss the fifty percent of Men, those who have gone through a divorce, good-bye!

I just removed the McCain stickers from the back of my cars.

This is a great pick. Palin is a true conservative with a history of taking on problems. Way to go McCain. I can't believe there are already people out there saying she shouldn't run becouse she has a family. Shame on you.

Yoder: The "problems" an American President will face include Vladimir Putin, Hezbollah, Al Qaeda, Iran, two wars, an economic meltdown, nuclear proliferation, trade deficits...not how to net salmon, or run a fish camp. The more I reflect on this the more I see it as a reckless gamble with America's security.

I find it highly amusing an Obama supporter would question Palin's experience. She has as much time in as a governor as Tim Kaine does and Obama looked at Kaine as a VP possibility. About the only true experience Obama has is in running for office.

I'm not a conservative, I'm actually pretty liberal but I'm no longer a Democrat after this primary.

I realize that McCain's pick of Palin was partly to pander to the Hillary Supporters...but it's rather nice to actually have a politician bother to pander to women.

And bubby, you are in for a rude awakening, Obama didn't take all of those Clinton Supporters off the table...many of them in fact have renewed their determination to vote for McCain and are now actively campaigning for him. Obama made his bed now he can lie in it.

Hello to all my fellow Virginians!

Palin is the only one of the four, Obama, Biden, and McCain with executive experience not just wallowing as one of a hundred. She is a take charge person with a great background. NRA, Pro-Life and a supporter of drilling in ANWAR. This is not a play to Hillary supporters--Hillary who did nothing as a US Senator and would never had been a candidate had her husband not been President. Sarah Palin has done all she has on her on. Palin is truely someone I hope my daughter looks up to someday.

I find it very refreshing for McCain to have picked Palin. It restored some of my faith in him. He is thinking outside the box. I hope he takes on Washington in the same way. New thinking, reform, reducing pork, shaking up that corrupt town.

Politically, this pick strikes me as calculated. Calling it "desperate" seems like a very superficial judgment that ignores the strong (and self-evident) reasons for making it.

That said, Gov. Palin is no way prepared to be President which Sen. McCain had previously believed to be important.

oh really?

She is just as prepared as a freshman US Senator from the big city of Chicago with a background of two State Senate terms. As a two term State Senator from Virginia I can say that serving one day as Governor of Alaska made her more prepared to be President than the Dem. nominee.

What Bubby another Dem. slime attack for the actions of someones children. Reminds me of the attacks on Dickie Cranwell because of his son's DUIs. Certainly you don't condone this. Anyway maybe she will pick up dem. traditional voters since some will protray her as a victum.

Worth a read.

As to Bubby's comment about how irresponsible it is for Palin to campaign with a special needs child...would you really be asking this if she wasn't a woman? I hope Dems continue to dig a hole with the ridiculous criticisms of Palin.

BB: Uh, Barack Obama was a 3 term Illinois Senator, and he won his U.S. Senate seat with 70% of the vote. His State senate district houses 781,000 people - more than the entire population of Alaska.

He sits on the Senate Foreign Relations committee and has traveled the world in that capacity. His plan for Iraq was recently endorsed by the Prime Minister of Iraq. I understand that Sarah Palin just got her first passport.

Barack Obama is the executive of a campaign with 15,000 employees and a $50 million/month budget. And the machine is working real good thank you.

I'll gloss over the degrees from Columbia U. and Harvard Law, where he was President of the Harvard Law Review, and simply note that he was a Constitutional Law professor at U. of Chicago for 14 years. Who needs education when you have God on your side.

Let's get down to the numbers: McCain has hit his own glass ceiling - he can't crack 45% and you don't win elections with that. For every evangelical vote Sarah Palin brought McCain, it cost him at least one Hillary voter who knows what a qualified woman looks like. And the week isn't over; I'll go out on a limb and predict that Sarah Palin will be gone before Thursday. And if she isn't, it won't be good news for McCain.
Respectfully yours,

How many present or no show votes did Obama make in the IL Senate and U.S. Senate? Has he ever made a decision that effected anyone? Palin is governor of a State with half a million people and hasn't spent her entire two years in office absent on the campaign trail. Has Obama "run" a good campaign or has his campaign manager?

How many times has he taken a stand on anything politically uncomfortable (as opposed to Palin, who booted people in her own party in Alaska, sounds like the "change" Obama always talks about but has no history of delivering)?

How many hearings has Obama held as a foreign relations committee chair? (Answer: Zero). How many countries did Obama visit during his time in the Senate that weren't simply a campaign/publicity stunt? (Iraq once, but only to incorrectly tell everyone that the "Surge" would fail).

Take of the ideological blinders. I can agree that Palin is not an extremely experienced VP candidate. However, to claim that Obama is anymore experienced if not much less experienced is just pure politics.

Bubby,

I'm on vacation and more concerned about Hurrican Hanna hitting Mytle Beach so I won't go into all you rants but how if Obama was elected to the State Senate in 1996 (the year my first term ended by the way) could he have gotten in three terms before going to the US Senate in 2004.

Bubby said...

Brandon: Barack Obama was elected to the Illinois Senate in 1996 and 1998, then after a failed attempt at the US House in 2000, re-elected to the Illinois Senate in 2002.

You boys need to get your facts sorted since you are pushing this "fish camp mayor lady has more experience" nanny-nanny-boo-boo lotion! She has left a trail of debt, and divisiveness, he has left a trail of growth, and unity. I know you don't want to talk about that, but if Republicans continue to pimp the lie, my side will be forced to expose it. Just run on "she's a good christian mother" and let the chips fall where they may.

And please don't see my critique as a rant, it is constructive criticism. Your party is figuratively wandering into the Big Horn River country and you boys would be well advised to restrain the impetuous, reckless, shoot-from-the-hip style of your modern day Gen. Custer (John McCain). You in fact could be his Captain Benteen - living for another day, and better odds.

The Republican Party will never govern America with a bunch of "low information" anti-abortion voters. They will turn on you and take your scalp with them. Ask General Custer, you have to have better numbers.

Hope the storm misses you!

Go figure. Leave it Illinois to have a wierd state senate terms of "three groups of senators with each serving one two year term per decade then two four year terms". So let's say that he served eight years in the state senate and leave it at that hey bubby. Anyway the guy didn't do anything but give good speaches and write memoirs. Great prep work for President, huh?
